Both of the top programs, NaturallySpeaking and ViaVoice, allow toggle commands. A toggle turns a function on or off using simple voice commands. For example, in ViaVoice, two of the most important toggles are:
"Begin Spell" or "Begin Numbers"
These commands allow spelling letter by letter and the rapid dictation of numbers. The way to toggle off is to say:
"Return"
NaturallySpeaking has similar commands. For example, if you wish to enter text with no spaces, say:
"No Space On"
To return to normal say:
"No Space Off"
In ViaVoice, you can turn formatting on with simple commands like these:
"Bold On"
"Italics On"
"Underline On"
Turning these formatting commands off again is as easy as saying:
"Bold Off"
"Italics Off"
"Underline Off"
In Dragon, it's easier to turn these formatting options off with this command:
"Restore That"
This restore to normal command also works by selecting any underlined, italicized, or bold text and simply saying "Restore That."
