Download the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 7.3 Update for Office 2003 Users

The Dragon 7.3 update (a.k.a. Service Release 2) was released on January 13, 2004. this service release addresses Microsoft's updates to the speech application programming interface in Office 2003. To use Office 2003 with Dragon 7, you must download and install the free 7.3 upgrade.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 7 must be installed on the computer before the Service Pack can be installed. Administrative privileges are required to install the Service Pack.

Follow these instructions.

Step 1: Access your live connection to the Internet.

Step 2: Start Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

Step 3: Choose Help, Software Updates from the DragonBar menu.

Step 4: Scroll down the web page (http://www.scansoft.com/NaturallySpeaking/support/). Toward the bottom you will see the link to Downloads, as seen here.

Step 5: Enter your product and operating system information, then choose the submit button.

Step 6: Scroll down and look for the following information and choose the DNS7SP2Eng.exe:

  • DNS7SP2Eng.exe
  • 01/13/2004
  • 38.0 MB
  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 7 Service Release 2: This Service release should only be installed by users running Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 7.0 or 7.2 (see TIB # 4600). It is recommended to install this Service Pack if you are experiencing any of the issues discussed in the knowledgebase article. This service pack is available for all editions of Dragon NaturallySpeaking - English Only.
  • Supported Dragon NaturallySpeaking versions: 7.0, 7.2

Step 7: You will first download the installation utility, which will then direct you to begin downloading. After the download is complete, close Dragon NaturallySpeaking and then open the update installer.

Step 8: Enjoy the update and happy speaking!

User file backup:

Before installing the 7.3 update service pack, export a copy of your NaturallySpeaking user files. Instructions on how to do this can be found at www.speakingsolutions.com/resources/aug2003.htm.

Installation Instructions:

Step 9: Double-click "DNS7SP2Eng.exe" to start the installation.

Step 10: Click "Yes" to close NaturallySpeaking if it is currently running.

Step 11: Click "Next" to begin the installation process.

Step 12: Click "OK" to complete the installation process. The computer may need to restart to complete the installation process.
