Replacing Digits without Adding Spaces

This is an advanced editing lesson. Feel free to print it out and make it available to your students. We recommend that this lesson be taught after Exercise 74 Numbers in the Nifty 58 and Nifty Medical.
Lesson Overview
How do you change a single digit number without adding an extra space? For example, what if you want to change the 2 to a 1 in this example: Exercise 2A Corporate Responsibility
Voice-on Steps
Step 1: To create this side heading using Dragon in Microsoft Word, say:
Exercise
Note: In Microsoft Word, the first word will be capitalized automatically at the beginning of a line, so no need to say "Cap exercise."
Step 2: Hesitate for a second because these next two utterances are macros and must be treated like commands. Say:
- NUMERAL TWO
Step 3: To make sure a space does not appear, wait for a brief second and saying the next command/macro:
- TYPE CAP A
Step 4: Hesitate for another second before you start your next phrase. Say:
corporate responsibility
- CAP THAT
Note: You could also just say * CAPITALIZE THIS LINE or * CAPITALIZE AND BOLD THIS LINE if you want the side heading bolded.
Step 5: Here's the next dilemma: what if you need to substitute 2 with 1 without adding extra spaces. If you select two and then say "numeral 1," a blank space will be created between 2 A. To change the number 2 to a number 1 without adding an extra space, simply say:
- SELECT 2
- TYPE 1
Step 6: Now, repeat the exercise from memory!
