One-Step Voice Commands: Cut, Copy and Paste
This is an important set of tips. Feel free to print it out and make it available to your students. We recommend that this lesson be taught following Nifty 58 and Nifty Medical Exercise 62 Cut and Paste.
Lesson Overview
Because most of us learn to use word processing with a mouse, we are in the habit of selecting first before we cut or copy. With speech recognition software there is no need to do this.
Voice-on Tips
Tip 1: Simply move to the paragraph you want to cut or copy and say:
- CUT (THE) PARAGRAPH, or
- COPY (THE) PARAGRAPH
Puzzled? Remember that words in parentheses are optional. I say then if you find them helpful, otherwise leave them out.
Tip 2: This same approach works with sentences. Simply maneuver to the sentence you want to cut or copy and say:
- CUT (THE) SENTENCE, or
- COPY (THE) SENTENCE
Tip 3: The same works with tables. For example, if you only have one table in a document, from anywhere you can say:
- COPY THE FIRST TABLE
or - CUT THE FIRST TABLE
or
- *COPY (THE) TABLE
or - CUT (THE) TABLE
Tip 4: You can then maneuver to wherever you need to pace the information and say:
- PASTE THAT (HERE)
