Using
Line Commands
in
DNS 8 and Ms Word 2003

Saying * LINE
1 in Microsoft Word will move you to the first line of any page that
you are currently on. The * LINE 7 command will move you to the
seventh line. You can instantly see how handy this command can be.
If you are writing in 12 point Times New Roman, you will have roughly
45 lines on the page. The center of the page will be roughly * LINE
25. If you are writing in 18 point, you will have fewer lines in the
midpoint will be roughly * LINE 15.
There are so many things you can do on a line. Here are just a few possible
commands:
* BOLD THIS LINE
* UPPERCASE THIS LINE
* UPPERCASE AND BOLD THIS LINE
* CENTER THIS LINE
* CAPITALIZE THIS LINE
* END OF LINE
* BEGINNING OF LINE
* CUT THIS LINE
* DELETE THE PREVIOUS (#) LINE(S)
* DELETE THE NEXT (#) LINE(S)
Demonstrate these commands in conjunction with Exercise 88 Fifth You
Write It! Have students dictate their story first without adding any
formatting. Then, have your students use line commands to add their formatting
to their composition after the fact.
