How To Find Your Dragon, Microsoft, or ViaVoice Books on the Digitools Instructor Resource CDBy Karl Barksdale © 2003
If you have DigiTools, go to the speech recognition books found on the Instructor Resource CD and you will find the first two sections of the FOR THE OFFICE PROFESSIONAL speech books. It's a little hard
to locate the PDF files for there books at first, but the search is well
worth it. There are over 100 pages in each book encompassing 10 very valuable
lessons that will get your students to the next level with the technology.
Follow these steps:
(Note: You will need Adobe Acrobat to view and print the files. Visit www.adobe.com for this free, downloadable version of the software.) Teaching Tip I frontload the Dragon Nifty 50 lessons from Speaking Solutions into Chapters 3 and 4 of DigiTools, breaking up the keyboarding lessons by teaching speech and keying simultaneously. Due to RSI-related health concerns, I impose a restriction on our students, not allowing them to practice intensive typing more than 10-15 minutes each hour. Integrating the Nifty 50 helps me fill in the hour rather effectively. But, what happens when the Nifty 50 runs out? Students need much more practice than this to internalize speech recognition skills! Use the the speech recognition books found on the Instructor Resource CD which include the first two sections of the FOR THE OFFICE PROFESSIONAL speech books.
