My Dream Vehicle Assignment

(Read all handouts before you start this assignment)

You have won the lottery and you can purchase any vehicle you want given a choice of three. Pick three vehicles types from the vehicle pool. You will collect information on two models from the local dealerships and collect information on one vehicle from the non-local dealers using the internet. You will need to collect information to substantially support a decision to purchase one of them. Analyze, compare, contrast, and evaluate the data you collect to support your decision to select one vehicle. Compare it with other vehicles, using at least 4 different criteria; such as interior features, external features, price, safety features, environmental issues, and/or size. You can pick other criteria as long as you use the same for all three.

Visit the car dealerships for the local dealers and use the Internet to gather information on the three vehicles. Your data must be gathered on your handhelds. Three handheld printouts will be required with this assignment. Printout 1: will use the word processor software, this will be notes about your visit to the dealership as well as notes taken from your Internet research. Printout 2: will use the spreadsheet software. A sample format of your spreadsheet data will available in class. Printout 3: will be a “proof of visit” form; be sure to print it out before you go to the dealer. This form must include the dealer’s name, address, phone, etc. This form must be turned in with your assignment or you will lose 5 points from the total points available. Dealer’s/Salesmen’s names and addresses will be verified.

Analyze your data and prepare a written report on your PC using Word to compare and contrast your vehicles and support your decision to purchase one of the vehicles. The written report must contain pictures of all three vehicles (so while you are at the local dealership take a picture of the two vehicles, the third picture will come from the Internet). Your report should be no less the two full pages double-spaced but no longer than 3 full pages. The report will be graded on content, grammar, punctuation, and attractiveness of the page.

Requirements for Turning in Work:

  1. Prepare a title page for your report
  2. Start typing report on line 1, use Times New Roman, 12 point font, and 1 inch margins.
  3. Spreadsheet charts using your handheld to present each criteria.
  4. Attach notes, spreadsheet, proof of visit form, and Internet research to the back of the report.
  5. Prepare and give an oral presentation (5 minutes) to the class to demonstrate your two vehicle choices and support your decision to purchase one vehicle.

This assignment is due at the beginning of the hour on Thursday, January 15th. Presentations will be on Thursday and Friday, January 15 and 16.
