IBM ViaVoice for Macintosh
IBM ViaVoice is the best product available for Apple Macintosh computers. We like it and have trained thousands of students and instructors to use this product.
There is also a version for IBM PCs, but this version falls short when compared with Dragon NaturallySpeaking and the Microsoft Vista beta, we can't recommend it for a Windows-based PC. (See the Dragon Scale.)
And, Apple has not provided a speech application programming interface that is anywhere close to the SAPI provided by Microsoft for Windows PCs. Ergo, if you're serious about speech recognition, particularly if you need it to help overcome an injury or disability, we highly recommend that you switch to the Windows platform.
