CS50 Wireless Headset & Base Station Charger

This is the best wireless headset we have ever tried. It has over a 100 foot range, charges for up to 8 hours of use in just a few hours, and fits great on your head for dictation. We love its accuracy, responsiveness and convenience. Evey Dragon instructor should have one.

Finally! We have found a wireless headset that works extremely well and at a price that will not require taking out a second mortgage on your computer lab. Here are some things to remember:

  • The wireless headset is only half of the system. A base station connects with a USB connector to the computer and transmits data to and from the headset. The base station provides a place to store the headset while the headset is not in use. And, more importantly, the base station doubles as a charger, charging its own battery and the battery inside the headset.
  • YOU CAN'T USE AN OLD USB PROFILE CREATED WITH ANOTHER HEADSET. YOU MUST CREATE A NEW PROFILE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE CS50.
  • You will need to charge your wireless headset for about three hours to charge the batteries in both the headset and the base station. Plantronics says you can get up to eight hours of use for every three-hour charge.
  • Plantronics recommends that the base station be hooked into the USB and electrical outlet at all times. It does not always have to be, but it is recommended. (This is why some people still use an Audio 50 with a USB adapter when traveling or dictating at the coffee shop.)
  • The headset comes with a variety of ear pieces and a very sturdy headband. I have chosen to use the headband because it places the headset in just the perfect position for dictation -- about a half inch from the side of your lower lip. You can even drink coffee without bumping it!
  • The headset must be taken off the base station (and the green lights on both the base station and the headset must be flashing) before you start Dragon or DNS will ask you to go through the audio setup utility again. A button on the back of the headset can kick start the reception between the two devices if needs be.
  • The volume control is located conveniently the stern of the headset.
